Yakut Single Bevel Knife

Yakut Single Bevel Knife

$400.00

This elegant knife is based closely on the knives of the Yakut people of Eastern Siberia used for cleaning and skinning game and fish, working wood, hide and other natural materials. The epitome of function the large thick blade is surprisingly light and nimble due to the deep hollow forged into the back of the blade. It is also wickedly sharp due to the unusual concave/convex high carbon 1095-steel blade. This example is for a right-handed user- the bevel is placed against the work and levered against to plain material off the work piece. the handle is figured black walnut and elk antler.
supposedly this design of knife hearkens back to neolithic examples made from the hollow bones of large mammals. The ultimate bush-craft knife.
