Yakut in CRV and local cherry burl (In stock)

$400.00

This one-of-a-kind  knife is based closely on the knives of the Yakut people of Eastern Siberia used for cleaning and skinning game and fish, working wood, hide and other natural materials. The epitome of function, the large thick blade is surprisingly light and nimble due to the deep hollow forged into the back of the blade. It is also wickedly sharp due to the unusual concave/convex high carbon 80CrV2 steel blade. This example is for a right-handed user- the bevel is placed against the work and levered against the bevel to plain material off the work piece. The handle is a gorgeous piece of local cherry burl. It comes complete with a custom made 8oz veg tan sheath with a pine inlay (with drain hole!) and a leather dangler.
